Necessity of Research Publications

 

 Each unit is precisely designed not only to give information but also to develop the skills on journal publications. Especially the topic Research Publications plays vital role in the journey of a research scholar. There are lots of hurdles during publication of our research work in a journal with a good impact factor. This particular course is very beneficial because it is mainly focusing on the key factors in publications such as quality measures of journals, journal publishing, article submission and academic collaboration. Being an MPhil graduate I am still unaware of certain topics which are being mentioned in the syllabus like indexing, indexing agencies etc. The unit on academic collaboration which includes collaboration in research, authorship preferences, tool of collaboration and merit of collaboration is very informative and it is one of the effective ways of publishing our works in a good journal with efficient time.  In the journey of research every researcher would face the rejection phase at starting stage of research. It would be more useful if we discuss how to overcome the rejection and review process in journal publication. By the completion of this particular course work I am sure that I can indulge the ability of publishing my works in a reputed journal.

The Indexer- Report on the O'Reilly's Tools of change conference

             This article is about the report given by Pilar Wyman, former president of American society for Indexing (ASI) on Tools of change (TOC) conference. Every year O’Reilly would conduct a conference on Tools of change (TOC) digital publishing. This year Pilar Wyman was asked to give a talk along with Jan Wright, the head of American society for Indexing Digital Trends Task Force (ASI DTTF). Hugh McGuire another speaker at conference spoke about API (Automatic Programming Interface) for books. He always believed the best interface of the book is the index.
